Text description provided by the architects. During the creation of the urban development zone of Berliet, the city of Saint-Priest was in the obligation to move petanque fields and building which were there. In exchange, the association which manages it, received brand new premises and four play areas. Athlete and enthusiasts were able to measure their skill again in April 2012.
The volume of the new club house, of 125 square meters area, is based on the template of the adjacent construction, reinterpreted and deconstructed in triangles, in reference to the morphology of the land where it is situated. The new equipment occupies only one-third of the area. The remainder is planted with local species of grasses with low maintenance cost. The building consists of two offset parallel strips, containing on one side a living room and an office, and on the other side, a technical area with kitchen and bathroom. This "slippage" creates a sheltered terrace at the northeast corner, and a canopy entrance at southwest. The whole building is covered with a metal skin, from head to toe! From galvanized steel siding, to steel doors, steel curtains and with perforated steel panels which adorn windows and canopies. The whole creates an architectural object with sculptural appearance.
